Modification Law on the Employment of Foreign Nationals

The planned dated for the modifications of the Law on the Employment of Foreign Nationals (Wet Arbeid Vreemdelingen) to come into force is October 31, 2013, as can be read in the document that was sent by the Upper House to the Lower House.

The modifications imply, among other changes, that work permits for which the European labour supply must be checked, will only be granted for the maximum period of 1 year. Moreover, the period of time after which an employee from outside the EU/EER does not have to apply for a work permit anymore will be extended to 5 years.
